Pumpkin Patches Near Boston
There are two kinds of pumpkin patch. One is a farm where kids walk into an actual field and cut a pumpkin off the vine. The other is a pile of trucked-in pumpkins on a tarp next to a parking lot.
These are the real ones near Boston, with the dates each field opens and what it costs to get in.
Updated October 15, 2026. Still picking at every farm on this list. Parlee's last day of the season is Sunday, October 25, Smolak's apples are done but its pumpkin field is still open, and Tougas hasn't posted a closing date (its season chart runs pumpkins into November). Call the picking lines before you drive.
When pumpkin season actually starts
Earlier than most people think. Labor Day weekend through early November is the full window, with the best fields hitting stride from mid-September.
Late September and the first half of October are the sweet spot: the fields are full, the weather is still decent, and you beat the Halloween-weekend crush. By the last week of October the good pumpkins are picked over and the parking lots are chaos.
Call the picking line before you go. Every farm below posts a daily update, and pumpkin fields close for mud after heavy rain.

Tougas Family Farm
📍 Northborough | 👶 All ages | 💲 Seasonal PYO pricing | ☀️ Outdoor (Labor Day – early Nov)
The longest pumpkin window of any farm on this list, and apples are still going at the same time, so you can do both in one trip. Wagon rides out to the fields, plus ice cream, a bakery, and a farm grill for the ride home. As of mid-October the pumpkin patch runs 9am–5pm (Fridays and Saturdays until 6) and apple picking 9am–4pm (Fridays until 5:30), both last-entrance times. No closing date posted yet; their season chart has pumpkins running September into November, while supplies last. Pick or Treat is Saturday and Sunday, October 24–25: walk the trail in costume, collect candy, pick apples. The farm has closed the odd Monday, so check “What’s Picking Today?” on their site before you drive. About 45 minutes west. No dogs.
Parlee Farms

Pumpkins from mid-September, alongside apples and the flower gardens, which are in their last week as of October 15. Last day of the 2026 season is Sunday, October 25, so you have two weekends left. Kids break up the picking with Annie’s Animal Barns and the sandbox. The most polished farm here, and the busiest — arrive at opening.
Honeypot Hill Orchards

The corn maze is the reason to come here — that plus a barnyard play area and cider donuts. It feels like someone’s actual orchard rather than an operation. One honest note: their site lists pick-your-own apples (late August to early November) and pears, not pumpkins, so treat this as the maze-and-apples stop. Farm store 9am–6pm through November 1, picking 9am–5pm, and the big Monster Maze is weekends only (the Little Maze runs all week). Weekday mornings in October are the move. About 35 minutes west.
Belkin Family Lookout Farm
📍 Natick | 👶 All ages (best 3–10) | 💲 $39/person online, $42 at the register (ages 2+); under 2 free | ☀️ Outdoor
Admission covers the corn maze, tractor play area, barnyard play area, the Great Pumpkin Play Field and a half-peck picking bag, so there’s no drip of extra charges once you’re inside. Buy online (your phone at the entrance counts) to save $3 a head. Heads up: the pumpkin field here is a play area; pumpkins to take home come from the farm market. Open Tuesday through Sunday plus holiday Mondays, last orchard entry 4pm. Taproom on site for the adults.
Smolak Farms

Hayride out to the fields and farm animals on the way back. Apples are picked out for the year as of mid-October, but pick-your-own pumpkins are still going daily 8am–5pm, last entry 4:15pm, and the farm stand is open 7am–6pm. Fall Festival Weekend is October 17–18 with hayrides and cow train rides. The pricing swings a lot by day and event, so check before you commit. About 35 minutes north.
Verrill Farm
📍 Concord | 👶 All ages | 💲 Farm stand free; PYO seasonal | ☀️ Outdoor
The pumpkin patch is open daily 8am–6pm: weekdays you carry your pumpkins into the store to pay, weekends 9–3 you pay at the wagon by the field. Farm stand open daily 8am–7pm. The low-key option — no tickets, no crowds, no admission just to walk in. Good when you want a farm morning without an event.
Four things worth knowing
Go before mid-October if you can. Same pumpkins, half the people.
Bring a wagon. If your kids are like mine, they pick the biggest one in the field and you get to carry it back.
Check the corn maze before you commit. Most are straightforward fun, but a few farms run a haunted version after dark, which is not what you want with littles.
Weekday mornings beat weekend afternoons at every single farm on this list, without exception.
